Sammy the Remarkable Siamese mix 11/2015 - Annette - Sammy is doing really well - he & Bobbi are almost friends- they were all but nose to nose this morning - no fur flying but Bobbi is still a bit standoffish - the dogs still startle him but tonight he stayed in my lap even when the dogs came closer to check him out - eventually retreated to his safe haven in the corner of the living room - I have the next 5 days off so my plan is to spend as much time with him & his house mates to make a little more headway with the acclimation - but he seems happy & stays in the living room during the day while we are out - if he wants to venture further he can but as far as I know - so far hadn't left this part of the house...have a great thanksgiving & thank you for rescuing Sammy :) he's a love! Barbara
Louis - LOVES to lap sit! 10/29/15 - Nero (formerly Louis) has brought so much happiness to our little family already... we love him dearly! The boys are both doing well and seem to be getting more used to each other by the day. Our current dillema is finding space for Chris and I in our queen size bed with 3 kitties, haha. They all sleep in bed together which is wonderful... not a real dilema! We dressed them up for some quick Halloween pictures... thought you'd enjoy them. :) Michele
Charlie Charming - Lovable lap cat! 9/10/15 - Hi Annette, Just wanted to let you know that Charlie seems to be adjusting well. Still runs and hides a lot but everything is still new to him. Started playing with his toys and loves sitting at the bay window looking out. The only little problem is I cannot seem to get him to use the scratching posts, but still working on that. He sleeps with me and he is on the chair before I am at night to watch TV. He is such a love bug and a gentle cat. He has let me trim both front and back claws no problem. Has never hissed or tried to bit me. He cries when he doesn't know where I am. I believe he is a mamma's boy. Charlie lets me brush him he seems to love it. He is just the type of cat I was looking for. His personality is very similar to Pappy's, very loving and easy going. I guess he has so many toys he doesn't know which one to play with first. He is still afraid of Harry, but then I am the one he is around most. He is slowly coming around to Harry. He is a great addition to our little family. He just needs a little more time to become more social. He is a great cat. Thank you so much for allowing me to be his fur ever mom. I think Charlie is happy here and he will always have a loving home. I was very hesitant about adopting a pet because of all the things that are going on in my life, but I am glad I made the decision, I know I made the right decision about Charlie and he has brought a lot of love and laughter into my crazy hectic life. Thank you again. You are doing a wonderful thing, taking care of unwanted or abandoned cats. Joyce
Baby Roger 4/2/15 - Hi Judy! I hope this email finds you well. Elizabeth and I just wanted to thank you again for Roger. He's been a tremendous addition to our family. Really, I could not have hoped for a better experience. Incredibly affectionate, social, and healthy. Neither one of us have ever had the pleasure of owning such a happy, pleasant pet. He looks the part of an adult cat now, but he's just as active as when we first brought him home. Nothing but good news to report! As he grows closer to adulthood, we wanted to share some pictures with you. We didn't forget our conversation back in September, that you wanted to see pictures as he grew up. Well, here they are! We hope you and your other fostered kittens are well! Best Regards, Alex
Hounds of Halloween - DD (pure bred Coonhound) Good Afternoon! I am writing because I was looking through the website (I would LOVE to adopt another dog from Castaway -- I sincerely recommend you to anyone I know looking to adopt), and I noticed that my pup was not included on the list of success stories! His name is now JARVIS, though when we adopted him, he was named DD. He was the purebred treeing walker coonhound that was in foster care for, I believe, nearly 9 months. We adopted him in October of 2013, and I would love for you to have yet another adoption on the success list. [...] I could not have imagined working with a better adoption group and words cannot describe how much I love my hound! Cheers, Cate Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
