Meet Venelope! Venelope and her sister Penelope was surrendered to our shelter after their owner decided she no longer wished to care for them. They were stripped of everything they knew, including their 10 year old human sister. She had never seen a vet before, and was terribly anxious, in heat, and very overweight. She was completely shut down after being dropped off at the shelter, it took months to overcome their fears and anxiety. She has come a long way and there is such a sweet cat deep down in her that deserves another chance and a chance to be loved because she has so much love to give for the right person who is willing to work with her and be patient. Venelope has been through a lot and can be shy or afraid when first meeting someone or when she is scared. She will need someone with a lot of patience and someone who can stay calm when she gets spicy because she is scared. She has come a long way from when she was surrendered. There is a sweet cat deep down in her and it has been coming out more and more since she has been with Castaway. She loves to rub up on things and loves head pets and butt scratches, she will roll over and be a cutie girl when she is in a good mood. She loves to sleep on her cushioned wooden chair in the window and watch the birds. Venelope would be best in a house by herself, she can get territorial when around other cats, she is not mean to other cats but if she gets intimidated or scared by them she will run and hide, get very hissy, and will get territorial about places she likes. She doesn't like to be picked up and held yet but we are working with her and she has started to tolerate being held, she makes progress but it can take some time. She can be very difficult to transport for vet visits because she gets very scared and defensive when trying to be put in a crate or carrier, we have been working with her for that as well and are making progress. If you are looking to give a cat another chance to show how much love they have left to give you have found her! She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines & FIV/FELV negative.
