General medical treatment and services provided to our animals:

  • All dogs and cats are spayed or neutered prior to adoption
  • All animals receive a rabies vaccine prior to adoption
  • Puppies receive their first set of shots
  • Dogs receive their basic vaccines
  • Kittens receive 2 to 3 FVRCP (distemper)vaccines
  • Adult Cats recieve 1 FVRCP (distemper) vaccine
  • General health and behavior screening
  • Cats are tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV
  • Dogs and Cats are de-wormed but additional fecal screening is highly recommended post adoption
  • Cats are treated for intestinal parasites, fleas, ticks and ear mites*
  • Dogs are treated with flea meds if needed
  • All of our pets are implanted with a Home Again brand micro-chip prior to adoption
  • We provide a Rescue Code so you may register your pet's micro-chip with Home Again at a reduced cost
  • Since we take in many injured and sick cats and dogs, we treat all animals to be sure they are pain-free, comfortable and stabalized by providing surgery or special veterinary care.

Ear mites, worms and intestinal parasites are common in kittens and cats and may take extended time to eradicate post adoption. We cannot guarantee that your cat or kitten will be completely worm/parastite free at adoption. Fecal samples muts be taken to your first mandatory vet appointment for a re-check.

*PLEASE NOTE: Our Mission is SPAY and NEUTER therefore we will verify that all pets in your home are spayed or neutered. Exceptions to this policy would be due to age or a medical reason supported by your veternarian. We do not adopt to breeders or any home with un-altered animals.

PLEASE BE SURE YOUR CURRENT PETS ARE UP TO DATE ON VACCINES FOR THEIR  SAFETY AND FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR NEW PET!

Even if you do not find the new member of your family that you are seeking with us, we always encourage people to adopt from a rescue or shelter rather than a pet store. Pet stores source dogs from commercial breeders. Please educate yourself!

We ask for your patience as we review and process your adoption application as we are an all-volunteer organization. Due to the large volume of applications we receive, please allow up to two weeks to contact you, although most applicants are contacted within a few days.

Got a mouse in the house...
or a bunch in the barn?

We have barn, feral, and stray cats who don't adapt well to life inside the home, but still need safe, permanent barn homes where they can be employed as mousers. Barn cats require an application but no adoption fee is required. As always, your donations are gratefully accepted and are tax-deductible.

Phone our adoption hotline at (717) 831-5010 for more information or complete an online application indicating your interest in a barn cat.
