Marble

Hi Lori, I just had to email you about these cats. We love them so much they were meant to be ours. SOO HAPPY we were able to get both of them they love being together playing and chasing each other through the house, and I think they love us as much as they do each other. Opal is just like alittle puppy dog she comes running to you as soon as you call her name she loves playing with my hair ties no matter where I put them she finds them if she can't right away she goes to Ashley's room and gets her hair ties or thick bracelets she wears Opal will bring them to me meows and purrs for you to pet her and throw the ties and she runs to get them and brings them back me to do again and again. She meows for Marble if she's in Ashleys room and can't see her, she sits at the bedroom or bathroom door and meows until I open them and let her in with me and talk to her, when I'm sleeping she lays at my feet mostly sometimes above my head and sleeps, when she wakes up and I'm still sleeping and she wants me up she will rub my head and face, lick my face touch it with her paw and just purr away until I pet her and talk to her, she is little miss jealous if Marble or Cali is on the sofa or bed she has to be right there to getting attension also. Marble is just like a baby she wants you to hold her cuddled in your arm against you with her head laying or sleeping on your arm, or laying up against you with her paws and head laying on my shoulder. If I'm sleeping she wants to sleep cuddled and curled up next to my side, sometimes at my feet cuddled with Opal or laying above my chest under my neck area she purrs all the time when holding her or petting and playing, she meows to for somethings but not as much as Opal does. While I'm at work they are in Ashley's room and does alot of the same things to her if she shuts her door and they can't get in then they go lay in Wesley's bed with him until I get home late at night when they hear me open the door they come running. Cali hasn't changed that much she will lay on the back of the sofa or bed while the others are there with me I can hear her purring some she will lay there and let me or the kids pet her but still doesn't want to sit on your lap and be fooled with alot I still keep trying though. Opal and Marble are totally opposite couldn't ask for any more loving and affectionate cats. They are my babies my husband says alot of times I talk to them and treat them better than I do him, I tell him they don't get on my nerves and leave me such messes to clean up the way he does. I got them a bunch of new toys Marble still loves her mouse you gave me it's getting worn out but still wants it more than the new ones. I couldn't find one like the old one. I haven't taken anymore pictures I need new batteries for my camera I keep forgetting them when I'm at the store. I will send other pictures one day when I remember batteries. Will keep in touch. We can't thank you enough for letting us have these beautiful and wonderful cats, they are very much loved and well taken care of. In a couple of days it will be a year since Trena passed away still love, think about and miss her so much wish she was still here but love as much and so happy to have these other cats since she's gone. Thank's Again, Lisa and Family

Mamie - Lively and Affectionate!

Thought I'd send you a couple of pictures of "Gabby" just to show how she's grown. Too bad I can't include voice so you could hear what a Chatterbox she is... Can't thank you enough, she's such a delight to have. Sherry (Gabby's Mom)

MELISSA

As a foster of special needs cats and kittens, our Assistant Director had suggested I visit Melissa to see if I was interested in fostering her. I have to admit, despite having been told of the massive “improvement”, to being shocked when I saw her. So tiny, but still so injured. The staff at the hospital, who all claimed her as a favorite, picked her up and placed her in my arms. This little girl settled in my lap, placed her head on my arm, took a deep breath and went to sleep purring. The decision was made – I was going to bring her home with me when she was ready to be released. On the day I was to pick her up I prepared a cage for her in my office; wanting to keep her still and isolated so that her stitches would not be disturbed by my other cats and fosters. This would prove harder than I realized. Once home, she explored my office where I had set up food, water and litter in her cage with a bed. But, the other cats were clamoring at the door to be let in to meet the new one. I opened the door and they all came in to meet Melissa. Little or no hissing took place and little Pete, only a week or two older than Melissa, started to play with her immediately. Fearing she would accidently be injured I ushered everyone out and Melissa and I spent the day in the office, she exploring, me working and Pete throwing himself against the door wanting in. After several days, the cage and closed door proved fruitless. She was quickly integrated into the household and she and Pete were inseparable, like two peas in a pod. And, they remain that way to this day. While Melissa is showing some independence by curling up with me at night while I read or watch TV, they can usually be found together – playing, sleeping, grooming each other. They can play for hours in the bathtub with a ball and have given a cardboard box a good workout. My family, used to my fostering special needs, when told about Melissa, had all voiced the opinion that they “didn’t want to see this one”. My sister forgot and came over one day and while she was talking I held up Melissa for her to see. Her reaction was to gather her in her arms and hold her close. Since then Melissa has had many guests and she is attentive and loving to all. And, I tell them all that while we may see her as different, Melissa doesn’t act different. Her coat when she first came to my house was coarse. It is now a luxurious, shiny black with some “salt” mixed in. Melissa stole my heart, and that of everyone she met. A very sweet, gentle kitten who knew no strangers. While it was so very tough to let her go, she was adopted by a young single mother and her two young children. While the mom had not been looking for a special needs kitten she cried when she came upon her webpage. The family had lost a husband and father after a long and courageous battle with cancer. When the young boys saw mom crying they asked her what was the matter. She explained about Melissa and how she was “different”. Their response – “Dad was different too, and we loved him. “ On a dark and rainy night, they drove from Delaware and took Melissa home with them. All my fosters mean something special to me, Melissa has her own part of my heart, tucked close.
