Melissa the Miracle Kitten
Melissa was found as a tiny kitten sitting in the middle of a sidewalk. Her face and skull had been injured and was being eaten by maggots. I know, it's not a pretty story. She was taken to the vet by her angel, Diane. The vet was so shocked by her condition that he backed out of the room. But, he came back in. Surgery was performed and she started a long recovery period. She was well loved by the staff at the hospital. Visited at the hospital by a potential foster, she stole her heart. Melissa's coat is a short but thick lustrous black (see what a good diet will do) - Pete is a red and orange short coat that he keeps well groomed. Pete is her sidekick and while his beginning wasn't quite as dramatic, it was a scary one for this lucky guy. This little guy - barely 3 weeks old at the time - was found alone stuck in a pipe at a local seed company. Rescued from the pipe and initially hospitalized, he is a spunky, active little kitten who acts like he doesn't have a worry in the world. Pete bonded with Melissa from the minute I walked in the door with her. It was difficult to keep Melissa isolated as he kept trying to play with her and I was worried about her stitiches. These two have given me so much pleasure and I would love them to find a home together. They can play for hours in the bathtub with a ball or in a good old cardboard box. They spend time carefully selecting a toy from the basket and then carrying it away to hide. Neither of these should experience any special veterinary needs in the future. For more information about Pete and Melissa, call their foster mom Helen at 717.571.6001. If interested in adopting, you should complete an on-line application.
