Camille - Best little lap cat! 1/23/18 -Good morning! I'm sorry it's taken me so long. Camille seems very happy with us. She follows Becky around like a puppy! Which is great. Just the kind of relationship we were hoping for. Becky's allergies on the other hand, not so happy. We're working on ways to manage. Lucky and Camille have an interesting relationship. It's fun to watch them figure each other out. Camille just wants to run and play constantly. Lucky's still not sure. Fortunately, NOT adversarial, and no aggression that concerns me. Camille does not seem to have a sense yet of "personal space" so every once in a while Lucky gives a hiss and a big, puffy tail. And you weren't kidding about toys!!! Camille absolutely loves them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She did start scratching again, so we got her to the vet last week. Theory is perhaps a food allergy, or an environmental allergy, or something like lupus but a really long name that I did not write down. So she's taking prednisone pills for 7 days, and we're trying a hypo allergenic food. Which Lucky won't eat, so we'll be figuring out how to separate them for feeding. Scratching seems to have calmed considerably, so I hope she's more comfortable. Next step is a trip to the groomer for a good brushing. Hoping that helps both Becky's allergies and to remove some dander. She really has a thick coat! So that's all from here for now. So very glad Camille is part of the family. :) Jen
Cooper Kitten At The Blue Dog Pet Store 12/18/17-From Cooper's foster mom: When Cooper was at the Blue Dog, he was nearly impossible to catch, and I despaired of adopting him out. A couple fell In love with him & on his adoption day Cooper hid in the wall and wouldnât come out. I offered to adopt out a different cat as Beth and I tore into the wall. They insisted they wanted him. And they have been beyond happy. Heâs a sweet loving boy now!
Nick It has been 12 years since we adopted Nik. I just wanted to let you know although he is slowing down, he is still the best dog I have owned (owned 7 throughout my lifetime). I know success stories are important to your organization so I thought I would thank you again. Jill L. Hartman
Millie PIPER When I was with Castaway Critters in 2008 I was named Millie. I am a Schipperke inside a mini Aussie Shepherd suit. I was abandoned when I was less than a year old and pregnant. I guess my original owner did not want to keep a pregnant puppy or deal with my babies. Thankfully I was put in the care of my loving foster family in York. Little did I know, as I was weaning my puppies and preparing to see them adopted, my mommy was desperately searching for me on Petfinder.com. She told me she was online 2 hours a day for two weeks until my story was finally posted and I was available for adoption. By now I was already over a year old and not considered a puppy anymore. My Mommy said she did not want a little puppy and that I was the perfect age for her. She made the 45 min drive to York to see me within days. When she stepped into the yard I, with all my other foster siblings, ran across the yard but I got to her first and jumped into her arms. It was love at first sight. My official adoption day was February 2, 2008. Every day since then, while she is cuddling with me or brushing me, my mommy tells me how incredibly lucky she is. I donât understand this as I donât recall her winning any lottery lately. She spoils me with several walks a day since we donât have a fenced yard. I wait patiently for her in the morning and during the day until she returns from work so I can take walks with her. I love to see my canine neighbors. We also take occasional field trips to the dog park on her days off. She keeps telling me that I âam her heartâ. I donât know what that means but it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I did the best I could at puppy school but I was too excited to see all the other dogs and barked constantly so my Mommy had me home schooled which was fun too. I love to learn and I always try hard to understand what humans are asking of me. My Mommy saw how much I love people so I became a Red Cross Therapy Dog. I even have a photo ID to wear when we visit nursing homes. I know I have an important job to share my cuteness with everyone there. I love my life, except those annoying grooming appointments, and I am soooo grateful Castaway Critters helped me find a forever home. Mommy also added 2 kittens from Castaway Critters in November 2013. I watch over them every day while Mommy is at work and even share my favorite window seat in the sunroom.

He is the perfect fit for our family. Becky P.S. I think he was somebody's animal who either let him loose or he ran away. He is so socialized. Right now he is sitting tight against me on my sofa.
