Max aka Bryant The story of Max. (Bryant when being fostered) After losing my 13 year old Maine Coon cat Bailey I knew that I would never live without a Maine Coon cat in my life. I told our favorite foster Mom about our lose and told her I was going to look for a purebred and she simply made the statement to me "please don't forget us, sometimes we might have exactly what you are looking for". This stuck with me and I went home and changed my computer search to the Castaway Critters web site and there he was. In all of his skinny little glory sitting in a crate was this cute little part Maine Coon kitten. I immediately got in touch with my foster Mom and said 'Let's get the wheels rolling, I want this little guy". Max (aka Bryant) still needed to be neutered so we had to wait 2 weeks to get him. When Max came home he was all boy. He wanted to rule the roost but had a few in line ahead of him. He was wild at times and especially loved to chase the "challenged" girls. He ended up knocking Rosie off of a table and it broke her bad leg. I was ready to send Max back but not being one to give up on anything, we gave him another chance and he has turned into a wonderful, gentle, loving big boy that is in his forever home. Naomi
Magnolia June 2008 Hi Diane, Thought you might like to see the latest picture of Leea on the back porch, where they want to be most of the time. Tomorrow she goes to the vet for her yearly checkup. She sure is a cutey and so sweet. Today they're in, since it is so hot, they don't want to be out much. Serena is also still fine and she wants to be my baby most of the time. She is my bed sleeping buddy. Take care and keep cool. Barbara
Mittens - Super Duper Sweetie 1/19/09 Good morning, Annette, My husband changed Mittens name to Zoey after a cat he had as a teenager. He said Mittens looks so much like the original Zoey it was incredible. She is doing great!!!! She is definitely a lap cat for both of us and loves to play with her basket of toys, which she has placed all over the apartment! Her favorite spots are on top of our kitchen cabinets, on a shelf of my plant stands where we placed a towel and in her teepee pet bed. She is very vocal and talks to us all the time. I still miss Jenny, but Zoey has filled my heart with such joy it really helps. Thanks for taking such great care of Zoey and she sends a "kitten hug" to you and a "Meow" to all her friends at your house. Thanks again, Carol, Len and Zoey
Maggie Some of you have had the pleasure in meeting Maggie, she was returned after being in a home for 6 months. But this time I think Maggie hit gold. I like to share a e-mail from her new "mom". Sounds great!, I'm going to send you $100 for the calendar and the postage to send dental sticks. Steve said he was going to send some and I am sure it will not be cheap so hopefully this will help compensate and if there is any left, please use it as you see fit to benefit the organization. Again, thank you for sending us Angel number 5. Maggie is actually my 4th rescue dog. Besides Molly and Tessie, I had a shep/lab mix that I got from the SPCA in York in 1992. She was not people friendly and they were going to put her down, but when I saw how scared she was, I took her home. She was about 2 when I got her and 10 years later in 2002 I had to put her down. She had arthritis pretty bad and was having trouble walking. Her name was Sammy and she loved the water. One day after she was swimming in the pond, we went home and that night I knew something was wrong. I took her to the emergency hospital and she had a ruptured spleen. With her age and her medical problems, the vet said it was time to free her from her pain. I held her in my arms as she went to sleep and it broke my heart and I promised her I would do my best to help other dogs have a home with love and happiness. I will never forget Sammy, she was my life for 10 years and 2 months after she left us, I got Tessie from Ohio. Tessie had just delivered a litter of puppies. They kept her puppies and dumped her at the shelter. She was so sad and I knew she missed her puppies. She was only 1 1/2 and the vet said she appeared to have been used for breeding in her young life. She was so scared of people at first. That was in 2002 and today she has come so far. She acts like a mommy to the rest of them. She appears to be correcting them at times and she is always licking their faces and cleaning them up. I did not want Tessie to be alone so I got on the net and in 2003 I found Molly in West Virginia. Molly had been left in an abandoned home with her brother and a bunch of big dogs. She was taken and put in a shelter with Akita's and they got out of their pen and attached her. She was in the hospital for a week, she was only 3 months old. The vet said it was amazing she did not have serious injuries to her organs. She was terrified when she came to me at 4 months. It took her about 4 years to get past her fear and she is doing much better now. Which brings me to Maggie. We have been so fortunate with our pets, we love them all, they are so precious. Mike brought Missy and Mocha into the family and although we love them as much, they have never been through the suffering and sadness the others have. They were adopted as puppies and have spent their life in a good home. My heart goes out to all the pets who do not have a loving home, I wish I could save them all. It is very special what you and Steve do for the animals and you should be very proud of yourselves. I think it is wonderful, they are so lucky to have you in their corner. Peggy
Malliki Brandi: Here is a few of the things that Malachi has done since he joined our family. Malachi is now about 7 months old. He is crate trained and pretty much housebroken. From the moment I picked him up at the Pet Place he has always been a loving puppy. Malachi, David my grandson, and I all went to Petsmart and attended their Puppy Training. Malachi graduated, and we plan to return in January to continue our training. We have 3 grandsons, ages 7, 2, & 1, who just love the dog, and Malachi is always waiting to give them lots of kisses on the face when they come to visit. My 79 year old mother came to visit our family for 3 weeks from Michigan and they became great friends. Malachi in general has adapted to our home very well. We appreciate the fact that Brandi Bangert from Castaway Critters was gracious enough to let us adopt Malachi. Malachi has been neutered since we got him and is current on all his shots. In a few weeks we will be taking Malachi to Michigan on vacation. Malachi is a great traveler. In general Malachi is all puppy and active and loving. Thanks to Castaway Critters for the great service that you provide. Malachi was taken from a high kill shelter, but he now is in a home that truly loves and cares for him. My husband and I will to continue to support your great efforts as much as we can. Syd., Bob and Malachi Placido Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
