Hi there, I’m Daisy Mae. I am a Bluetick Coonhound. Right now I’m a little small, only about 8 pounds. Everybody says I’m going to be a long legged girl and probably weigh around 60 to 70 pounds. I have lots of energy right now and like to play a lot. There are two other dogs at my house right now. One is Aubrey, she is a pup too but a lot bigger than me. That doesn’t matter though, I still boss her around. The other one is an old hound dog too. Her name is Opie, she’s not much fun though, I don’t think that she likes me very much. When I try to tell her what to do she has other ideas and tells me off. I still try to boss her around though, maybe one day I’ll get my way. I have my own little room right now, just the perfect size for me, but it has no bathroom. I have to wait till the kids take me outside to go. I can hold it for about three hours and that’s about it. I don’t like being in there at night though. I figure if I cry long enough, someone will get me out and let me sleep in bed with them. Sometimes it works. Did I tell you that I like things my way? Sometimes the kids put this thing around my neck and take me for a walk, I don’t like that thing on my neck right now. I have seen other dogs with them on and they don’t seem to mind it. They tell me after a while you don’t even know it’s there. We’ll see about that! Oh well, I have to run now, gotta go tell Opie that she has to play with me. Maybe you could take me home sometime. I would probably like it better if I had someone all to myself and didn’t have to share.

Daisy’s personality is such that she is very loving towards her human companions. She is an Alpha female, is very confident, and knows what she wants, when she wants it, and how she wants it. She will require an owner that is firm but loving. She will not respond to physical discipline, nor should she have to.

Daisy is now doing well with the other K-9 companions in the house now that she knows exactly where she fits in to the pack. She can be a pistol at times, and has a lot of energy. A fenced in yard would be the ideal environment for her to play in. She wants to be with people as much as possible, when she is left out alone, she will let you know that she doesn’t like it.

Coonhounds are a unique and special breed. If you have never had a coonhound or are unfamiliar with them, this is probably not the breed for you. A link is attached so that you may better educate yourself about the breed and what is required to care for this special little girl. Please copy and paste this link into a new browser page.
