*** There has been a lot of interest in Sadie as of late, so please serious inquiries only!
Sadie is an adorable 7 years young female Maltese, rescued with 4 others from a horrible Puppy Mill . The last pic is the day we got her, so look how cute she is now!  Malteses are very long lived dogs, & she's got many years left in her. In fact her (good) life is just beginning!   It's awesome to watch her behave like a puppy for the first time in her life. Everything in a puppy mill dog's life is new. They've never slept on a soft surface, heard music, been petted or kissed,  felt grass or carpet between their toes, or even climbed on steps.  The day she was rescued, Sadie was a physical and emotional mess. We are changing all that a day at a time by showing the little angel what love is supposed to feel like.  All she needs is someone who is alittle patient & a lot loving.
It has been truly wonderful to witness this girl progress to become a "normal" doggy. I will tell her story as it has unfolded in hopes that it will inspire someone else as much as this stong & brave little girl is inspiring us!

Day 1 and 2 : Sadie looks like a combination of a matted rat, & Yoda. (So guess her nickname! ) Her hair has been cut off too short & uneven by her owner probably to hide that it was filthy and unkempt at the puppy mill. These puppy mill dogs are bred until their best breeding days are over, & then euthanized except for the lucky ones like her who are rescued. Sadie constantly lays in a ball as she doen't know anything different, & has never had the space to walk very far growing up kept in a cage. She is scared, very timid, & will not look us in the eyes. Her medical exam revealed she had an ear infection, lots of bad teeth & horrible breath, & weak legs, & her hair is a terrible mess. Most of all that will be repaired by wonderful doctors, a loving home, & space to run.
End of 1st week: Little Sadie is already making some progress. She is content to stay on her blanket by the back door. But she is now holding her head up and looking around showing curiousity. She seems much more alert & very interested in watching my dogs. When she's taken outside on a leash she stands there, not knowing what to do. She must be dragged (persuaded) around the yard to try to get her to exercise her little weak legs.
Week 2 : Up until now Sadie sleeps wherever she is placed. She has been sleeping in my arms in bed all night each night and hardly moves. Last night for the first time she ventured off her blanket back & forth into the next room to peak around the corner & watch my two dogs. Then she quickly runs back to the "safety" of her blanket. It is a huge step for her, & adorable to see . There is hope for this girl afterall!
Week 3: Sadie is transforming into an adorable little puppy. She's showing curiousity by watching our every move, & when you talk to her she  responds by tilting her head in that cute way that only dogs do. She is walking around the room much more which has made her much stronger, but still runs for cover if you approach her. She shakes in fear if you try to pick her up, but then as soon as she's picked up she calms down & lets you hold her forever. So many insecurities & contradictions at this point.
Week 4: Little Sadie is becoming just too cute (see most recent pics.). In the last few weeks she has progressed immensely!!! This little girl taught herself how to walk up and down the stairs! Quite a feat for a dog who's never been allowed to even walk around. She is bonding with & follows my dogs everywhere.  It is so fun to see her becoming "one of them" & being more vocal and demanding. She knows the routine of my dogs receiving a treat after meals, & little Sadie is now right up in the middle of them, standing on her two back legs and barking adamently for HER treat! When she knows it's time to eat she kicks all her legs in place, barks, & gets so excited she squeals.  She is a totally different dog than a month ago.

Mid January: Sadie is so cute it will get harder and harder to give her up. Today she tried to play with my dog for the first time. Right now she is chewing on a rope toy, a first for her. All her medical issues have been resolved. Sadie has been spayed, had all her bad teeth pulled,  & recently she received all her vaccines & microchip too,... & she was given a much needed bath &  manicure. She runs through the house and up and down stairs like lightning. (And to think a month ago she hardly walked!) Sadie is the definition of adorable cuteness.

We are still working with her housetraining ( patience needed here.) She uses the puppy pads indoors but sometimes her aim is off :-) It's been such bad weather and so much deep snow it's slowed down her training outdoors.
Sadie will make a wonderful, easy companion or best friend for someone. If the plight of mill dogs tugs at your heart, & you truly want to make a difference in one lucky little dog's life, please help Sadie. She is so easy to fall in love with. We've mended her little body. Are you her forever family who will mend her heart?
