Callie is a beautiful Maltese female rescued from a puppy mill just 5 weeks ago. She is amazingly sweet and loving despite her horrible past. Callie was kept in a coop with wire florring in a puppy mill for the last 8 years. No toys, no treats, no quality food, no love...not even a name. Used for breeding, this little babe has had many litters of puppies. When she was no longer producing enough for the miller..he wanted to "get rid" of her. Thankfully a kind person stepped in and took Callie and saved her from a terrible fate. This person contacted Castaway Critters to take this girl in. Though a little timid at times..she is very sweet and loving and wags her tail a mile a minute! She is eating well and doing great on a leash! She is going potty outside, but we are still working on house breaking..she does have the occasional accident. She is content to be with her person and loves to be held. The perfect home for Callie will be one with owners who completely understand her past, and know that this does affect her demeanor. She will neeed lots of love and patience, and positive reinforcement to correct. A fenced yard is not required, but she must be on a leash at all times outside, as she will be a flight risk. Loud strange noises frighten her..and she will run if scared. Callie, despite her very cruel past, is a pup that I feel can really adjust to a normal dogs life. She is super smart and very sweet..she comes out of her shell rather quickly. She deserves an awesome life full of treats, kisses, love, play time and toys! Can you be that family for her?
