***RICHARD WILL BE AT PETSMART EAST on on Derry St in HBG on Saturday, 2/23 from 11 to 1. COME MEET ME****Richard was adopted from the animal shelter when he was a pup. Part of the contract for adoption is to bring the dog back to the shelter if something happens that the dog cannot be kept. The adopter didn't do that. Fast forward a few months and Richard was found at the home of a neglectful owner whose animals were seized by the humane officer. For at least six months Richard has had no attention, love or training. At some point, he has had a collar imbedded in his neck, and there remains a visible line around his neck where there was permanent damage to his coat. We're hoping the hoarseness in his bark will improve in time. This poor boy was a little orphan pup but his situation only got worse. He has endured who knows what during the last months but he is back at the shelter and enjoying his food bowl now. He weighs around 50 pounds since a kind neighbor provided food, but Richard needs a kind and patient owner to spend time with him and to show him how different and good life can be. He's had enough of the bad side of life! UPDATE: Richard(aka Rickee) is now in foster care and enjoying life. He does great with the other dogs in the home and is curoius about the cats but friendly. Through his tough beginning this boy has not lost his happy nature. He seems eager to please and has already figured out Sit. He is adjusting to crate training and now enjoys a nice ride in the car. Richard also enjoys chewing on bones and balls. His perfect home will have lots of toys and bones to keep him happily entertained.
