Leonard has had the hardest of lives. He was tied to a box for his entire life and was a filthy matted mess upon arrival at a shelter in W. Va. He was SO terribly matted that the shelter workers could not tell his sex until he was shaved!  When they shaved him down, they found a choker chain completely imbedded in his hair! Despite everything this poor boy has been through, he was so tolerant through the whole process of grooming and shaving him!  That speaks volumes about his nature and demeanor! He was SO scared upon arrival in the shelter and was so uncomfortable with the matting and mud, but when he figured out that the shelter volunteers meant no harm he was so wonderful and warmed right up! They say he even seems to be very appreciative of the care, love, shelter and bed! Leonard will go for vetting this week and will be headed to Pennsylvania on 1/20!  The shelter is guessing that he is approximately 7 years old.  If you have it in your heart to help a very special boy start a new life as a cherished pet, PLEASE apply on line to adopt this wonderful dog who has known nothing but neglect all his life!

1/26 - Hi, it's me, Leonard! I am still here but thanks to my new foster mom I got me a haircut and I'm looking hot (if I do say so myself!) and ready for a forever home. I found that I love to play and cuddle, and love to get my belly rubbed. I like to run and explore the yard since I wasn’t free to do that before. I was initially afraid of the stairs but I am working on that and learning to master them! I like having the company of other dogs, and cats are fun, too!  I think running and playing with kids is so much fun!  Please remember me; I really need a forever home so I have someone that loves me always and I can give them all the love that I have to give ... and it’s a lot.

Update on Leonard 1/27 - Well, I am doing really well with my foster mom; she is working on going up and down the steps with me, and I am getting better and learning really fast! When I have to do my busness, I go to the door now! When I get my forever home it may take me a few days to get into the swing of things, but I am told that I am really smart so it's not a problem for me to learn a new routine!  Someone out there give me a chance and fill out the on line application fee!  Take a good look at me and just see what a great boy I am!
