My name is Jack. I am a male, black lab mix approximately 4-5 years old, medium size and 50 pounds. I am one lucky dog. I was found as a stray and taken to a shelter to wait for my family to come and take me home but they never came. Here is my story: It was Tuesday of last week and the people from the shelter came to discuss what was going to happen to me since my family had not come to claim me. I was told that on Friday I would be going to the Medow. There I would never be hungry, thirsty, abused, sick or grow old. I could play all day in the Meadow with the other dogs. Unfortunately I would have to die to go there. I was scared. I didn't want to die. I was not old or sick. I heard them talking as they walked away. They had sent out an urgent emails to no kill rescues trying to get some one to save me but there had been no response from any of the rescues. It was now Friday morning and I was scheduled to be euthanized before noon. I didn't want to go. I was hoping to stay and find my own forever family that would take care of me and love me. I waited all alone in my cage knowing it was time. I continued to wait but they didn't come. The equipment had malfunctioned. I had been saved at least for a few more hours. While I waited, unknowingly a call had come from Castaway Critters that they would save me. I was very grateful to them for giving me a second chance at life. I am now with my foster family as I wait to find my new forever home. I am sorry that I took so much of your time to read this story. I just wanted you to know that I am one of the lucky ones. Many of my friends face death each day and need your help. If I am not the dog you're looking for please consider one of my friends on the web site. I would be a great walking partner as I walk very well on a leash. I could also use the exercise to shed a few pounds. The vet said about 5-8 pounds would be good. I get along well with other dogs. I love to be with people and have my head rubbed.I am a very calm and laid back kind of guy. If you would like to know more about me contact my Foster Family on line. Won'tt you please consider giving me my forever home? I will be your best friend and life long companion.
