Ernestine  is a member of a group of puppies dubbed Goldie's Lucky 13.  Shortly after their birth, they were placed in a box and put in a dumpster.  Fortunately, a fellow heard a strange noise and found them.  The puppies had very little hope of survival, except the man who dumped them put them in a box with his address on them.  He was tracked down by the authorities and given the option of surrendering the mother dog as well or facing 13 counts of animal cruelty.

   All of the puppies survived and the story made national news.  Caesar Milan's magazine covered the story, and a follow up of some of the puppies' adoptions is coming in next month's magazine as well.

   The organization that originally rescued them asked Castaways to take the final four girls because they felt the puppies would have a better quality of adopters in Pennsylvania rather than Mississippi. 

Ernestine's new adoptive family will need to be patient and understanding of her shyness and be willing to provide her with socialization in order to help her achieve her highest potential as a wonderful companion. She would do best in a home with older children.
