When Angelina first came to Castaway Critters, she seemed like a sad, little cat. And she probably was. After what she had gone through -- a cat lover in Steelton had seen her caretaker kick her, and Angie, who's declawed, had been put outside by the housekeeper who was afraid the husband was going to do serious harm to her -- she probably was confused and afraid. Angie had been the beloved pet of a woman who had died, and the owner's husband was an alcoholic who also had Alzheimer's, so it was a sad situation all around. Now safe and secure in a foster home, Angie is gradually putting her past behind her and is learning to trust again. It's obvious that she had been abused for some time. She hid for weeks, and even now, after several months of being in her foster home, she still flinches at times when I reach for her. Any sudden movement scares her. However, she has begun making real progress in coming out of her shell, becoming relaxed and showing me genuine affection. Angie has proved to be the perfect litter box user and has a playful side. Although she hisses at the other cats she has to live with, she can be adopted into a home with cats because hissing is as far as it goes. Angelina is spayed, current on her vaccines, and microchipped and has tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV. She's very easy to care for and only needs lots of love and attention. For more information about this true rescue kitty, contact her foster mom Annette in Harrisburg at alr@paonline.com.
