So, a nice couple took her in. Harley received her rabies and distempter shots. She has been seen by a vet who found her to be in good shape. He also checked her for heartworm and she was negative. SHe has been started her on heartworm pills. Now that Harley has settled down, she is very loving and gentle. We walked her in the park both Saturday and Sunday and she did very well on a leash and does not pull. She was fine with people in the park approaching her and petting her and was fine when other dogs passed us. She also returns to you when you call her and sits and lies down on command. Harley is inquisitive about our cats who pretty much are avoiding her. Harley does not bark at them or growl at them. Harley does bark at people who come to the house but will settle down after a bit of coaxing. She also is good about being in her crate. We only crate her when we are not here. Otherwise, Harley is doing great being left alone at home. And she loves to be petted. She'll sit by you all night for pets and hugs if you let her. Harley looks like a big golden retriever or a teddy bear. :) Harley loves to be with her people. Every night when we had her, she would be with us watching TV and she would get into her crate with the door open and put her nose on the floor and watch TV with us. I think she was happiest there. She likes to watch over her family. Being part Rottie, she has a natural tendency to protect her family. If she is behind the gate, she will bark if someone approaches the house. She has a nice low bark. (if barking can be nice). She stops barking if you ask her to. When she was with us for 3 weeks, she never cried in the morning to wake us up early. She just waited til we woke up and came down to let her out. I was pretty impressed with that. She likes dog biscuits. She is 7 or 8 years old. Not sure about kids because there were no kids at Rick’s Mom’s house, but because she is part Saint Bernard, that breed likes children and will be docile with them. Being part Saint Bernard, she likes being outside in the cold. She’ll just sit in the snow and survey the property. More about HarleyGood with Dogs, Good with Cats
