Star light, star bright, the first star I see tonight....I wish the same wish every night.
When I'm tucked in bed, I wish it was MY bed in which I slept. (Or better - yours! ;-)
I wish I had my own mom or dad to kiss my head and wish, "Sleep tight." I wish, after I've been so good by myself all day and I hear the door,
It could be MY family that I greeted when they came home every night. I wish the lap I curled up into each evening--a little ball of purring affection--
Was the lap of someone who loved me; I think someone someday just might. When I'm happy, I walk around the house and chatter to myself; I'm silly like that.
When they hear, I wish it was MY family that smiled at me with delight. I have a cloudy eye that looks weird; it's from a cold when I was just a baby.
There's no medicine to buy for me, no treatment I need; the doctor says now it's alright. I wish there was family for me that didn't care if I wasn't beautiful on the outside;
only that I was beautiful on the inside. I wish I had a place to belong; I've never belonged anywhere. I wish, when I looked up into their eyes, they'd smile at me and tell me I was safe. And home. I'm a very well-behaved little girl. I don't even like canned food (yuck!). I use the litter box all the time (of course). My shots are up-to-date and I have no health concerns. I love to play. Even more, I love to snuggle up on your lap and rub my head into your hand. But, I'm not perfect; my eye is noticeable.
Do you know of a family who could see how beautiful I am on the inside, and not mind that I'm not perfect on the outside?
