A Harrisburg Steam Plant team led by Tim Kauffman was returning in their large construction truck from their daily work of digging up streets, installing piping and moving concrete.  As the truck moved along Market Street, they noticed a small kitten sitting on the curb. The burly men stopped the truck in order to help the distressed kitten.  But, as they tried to retrieve it, the little orange ball of fluff skittered away.  The men gave up and returned in the truck to the steam plant only to hear a loud meowing when they alighted into the plant yard.  The kitten had lodged itself between the muffler and the frame of the truck and had survived the two block trip with only singed lips.  The truck had to be jacked up to extract the kitten, now named Stanley Steamer.  Stanley is just 6 weeks old and needs a permanent home. There are hundreds of other kittens in similar situations every day and it is only through the availability of foster homes and your donations that we can help them.  If you can provide a home for Stanley, he will be altered and FIV/FeLV tested prior to adoption.
