Hello, my name is Harley. My beginning was not easy. I was born in a barn in the woods. They say my momma is feral. I don't know what that means but all I know is that she was a good momma. Eventually she left me on my own to find food and to stay safe. I'm not sure what happened to her. Staying safe was hard in the woods but finding food was a lot easier. Even though my mom taught me to not trust humans, I found that some of them are good. I found a kind woman who would feed me every day on her porch. With her patience and kindness, I started to trust her. I could tell she wanted to give me a home but she already had three rescued indoor cats. Every day was a struggle for me to stay safe from the mean creatures in the woods. When I would get hurt, the kind lady nursed me back to health. When I was about three months old I received two puncture wounds in my neck. It sure did hurt. The kind lady made me all better. Then at about eight months old, I got caught in a coyote trap. The kind lady thinks I was able to pull my paw out of the trap or the trapper released me. I wish I could tell her what happened. I was lucky enough to make it back to her porch dragging my front leg and paw. And once again, my kind lady nursed me back to health. In the midst of my recovery, I started to limp on my back leg. It was at this point my kind lady called Castaway Critters for help. They knew I was what they called “accident prone” and I needed help and shelter. So, off I went to stay with another kind lady. I heard them say she is what is called a foster mom and she has been so good to me. I am having so much fun playing with other cats and also a little human boy who frequently visits us. Now that I have a temporary home, we have found out that I am not much of a lap cat. But I do love being held like a baby while showing you all my affection and gratitude through my eyes. I love, love, love all my people! I’ve been told I can be a trip hazard to humans cuz I love rubbing on their legs. But I mean no harm. I am so docile and trusting that you can do pretty much anything to me. I take oral medications like a champ! Oh and by the way. There really wasn't anything wrong with my back paw. I stopped limping on it as soon as I got to my foster's house. Wink, wink, it worked. I have a nice warm bed, my belly is full and no more worrying about scary monsters in the woods. You ask what’s next!!?? I would love to stay where I'm at but I know it's time for me to start the next chapter in my life. I am ready to find my own family and shower them with sweetness.
