Found lying on a country road in West Virginia, Baby Girl, as I am known, had been hit by a car and left to die. Estimated to have laid there up words of 24 hours, a neighbor finally called the police to help me.

Although X rays showed my front leg had not been broken, it may have been the easier fix. Instead, the vet diagnosed me with Radial Nerve Paralysis. This diagnosis allows few options as nerves do not regenerate and I would not regain motion nor feeling to allow use of my leg. Amputation was the decision made in my best interest.

At a young age of 1-2 (uncertain exact) I was placed in a local foster home. This is where showed my true loving and endearing personality. Not only was I house trained, good with cats, other dogs, children, I also showed her resilience, will to live and acceptance for care being provided to save my life.

Shelter staff reached out to northern rescues, hopeful to find a rescue with a heart to help me. Not only to search for my forever home, but to also fund my surgery. Castaway Critters was there ready to welcome me into their care.

Following surgery, I healed and gained much needed weight and strength. My shoulder was saved allowing for a possible prosthesis or “wheels” that I may need later in life. (If that’s something my new family would consider) My stitches were removed and off I went to my foster home in PA on 10/17 ready to show the world that unlike humans, animals are able to overcome diversity. Since arrival, I have not looked back. I’m happy, outgoing and a total “Love Bug”.

Able to not only go up AND down steps, I’m running, playing, jumps for joy and said to have the most amazing “wiggle butt” you have ever seen! Heck, I even tolerant of a chihuahua telling her who is boss! I'm even learning my own "Baby Girl Language" as I talk/make noises to express my thoughts!

Thought to be a Boxer/Pittie mix, I weight approx. 40#, house trained, good with cats, dogs, children, no food or toy aggression. I have been submissive to all in my foster home!

A word from her foster dad who is NOT a Pit fan, “She is truly a loving sweet girl who has stolen my heart!” Dad also says “We WILL be very picky who adopts our Baby Girl!”

Her adoption donation includes spaying, vaccinations, implanting of a microchip, application of flea meds and worming.

Baby Girl is in foster care so please complete an application at our website (www.castawaycritters.org) before meeting her. Completing an application does not obligate you to adopt; however, it is required. Applications are processed in the order received in an effort to find the best match possible for both the dog and the adopter.
