Leelu is a five year old beagle/sheltie mix who came to us from a high kill shelter in West Virginia. She is a very sweet dog, considers herself a 35 lb lap dog and loves to snuggle and have her belly rubbed. She loves jumping up on the couch with you or sleeping in bed with you, if given the okay. She has had some training and walks well on leash, and knows "sit," "down," "come." She picks up training quickly and would love more. She was overweight whe she first arrived, but has shed the excess and now she has lots of energy, and enjoys walking 2-3 miles a day. She also enjoys tug toys, chew toys, and food puzzles. Leelu lost her first home when her people were evicted, and she landed in the local animal shelter, which was pretty traumatic for her. Because of that she needs an adopter who will be patient with her as she adjust to a new home, which she does given a little time and love. She is not crate trained, and is afraid of crates, but is completely reliable left on her own in the house. She needs a mentor dog(s) in her new home, as she takes her cues and confidence, in part, from other well-balanced dogs, and really enjoys their company. She is house trained and has only had an occasional accident which can be prevented with making sure she empties her bladder on walks. Leelu came from a high kill shelter in W. Virginia Her adoption donation includes spaying, vaccinations, implanting of a microchip, application of flea meds and worming. Leelu is in foster care so please complete an application at our website (www.castawaycritters.org) before meeting her. Completing an application does not obligate you to adopt; however, it is required. Applications are processed in the order received in an effort to find the best match possible for both the dog and the adopter.
