Hi there! My name is Larkin, and I'm a cuddly 2-4 year old hound mix. I just did a DNA test - turns out, I'm 100% awesome! But genetically, I'm 50% American Leopard Hound, 25% Treeing Walker Coonhound, and 25% American English Coonhound. I came from a WV shelter and am now hanging out with my foster family. I would love to meet you because I LOVE EVERYONE!

I weigh just over 50 lbs, and the vet says I am the ideal weight (of course I am)! I use the bathroom outside (like a lady should) and am not picky with my food. I enjoy long walks, and my foster parents say I have perfect leash manners, I love walking behind them. They tried to get me to jog on leash, but that seems like a lot of work for me. My favorite activities include squirrel chasing, barking at squirrels, playing "hide and seek" with squirrels, and sniffing around like a hound dog!

I get along well with my 2 foster dog siblings, and got glowing reviews at daycare. I know how to chase, play tug-of-war, and wrestle (nicely). I do get a little possessive of high-value treats/toys with my doggo siblings, but I just tell them to leave me alone so I can enjoy it in peace! I'm not possessive of anything with my foster parents though, they are the bringers of stuffed toys, ropes, and frozen kongs (YUM!).

If cuddling was an Olympic sport, I would have a gold medal! My favorite time of night is curling up in bed between my foster parents - I can curl up in a teeny tiny ball, and I don't even snore. I'm great at sitting and would love to shake your hand, and have learned to sit and wait patiently for my food until I'm released (no promises on the drool front though).

I don't have many dislikes, but they are cats, kittens, cats, and mail trucks. I know some hound dogs don't mind cats, but they stress me out and make me very anxious and loud, so I cannot live in a house with small animals. I am great at recognizing any parcel service truck, and will alert you to them immediately, even if we're riding in the car!

Larkin's adoption donation includes spaying, vaccinations, implanting of a microchip, application of flea meds and worming.

Larkin is in foster care so please complete an application at our website (www.castawaycritters.org) before meeting her. Completing an application does not obligate you to adopt; however, it is required. Applications are processed in the order received in an effort to find the best match possible for both the dog and the adopter.
