Sometimes I wonder why I've been at my foster home for so long, since last fall, in fact, without anyone adopting me. I got my hopes up recently when someone put in an adoption application for me, but the nice people adopted a different cat instead.

I wonder if I haven't been adopted because I'm not young and cute anymore. But then my foster mom looks at me and says: "Sammy, I believe that every cat who wants a home will find one someday. I believe that someone out there wants to love you as much as I do. Someone who will laugh at your silly trick of standing on your hind legs on the toilet seat and waving your front paws around until I just have to kiss you. And we'll just wait as long as it takes for that special someone to show up."

Note from Sammy's foster mom: Sammy is a gentle and loving cat who's very low maintenance. He's front declawed and gets along very well with other cats. He's had an infection that left him with a clouded eye. He's our "gentle giant," and he's been the perfect houseguest.
