I trapped Isle behind Holly St. in the city of Harrisburg in late October during the course of a trap-neuter-return project. I was immediately taken by Isle's stunning good looks and friendly, gentle demeanor. Right away I reached out to a local rescue to seek placement of Isle in their adoption program. In a highly unusual turn of events, Isle tested positive for FeLV and was not able to be placed with their program. This result was followed up with an IFA test. Isle has the persistent FeLV infection. She is neither a carrier or transient. Isle is estimated to be about 6 years old and in very good health, aside from the FeLV. Isle has been spayed and is up to date on vaccinations. She is believed to be a Lynx Point Ragdoll. How this striking beauty ended up on the streets will probably forever remain a mystery. Isle is residing in a crate in the home of a woman in the Harrisburg PA area. Isle is a sweet, quiet and loving cat. She absolutely loves to have her long, beautiful coat brushed and combed. One important thing to remember is that if she ever should become sick, she needs to see a veterinarian almost immediately since FeLV attacks the immune system.
FeLV is only contagious to other cats thru saliva, not to people or other pets. Isle can live in a home with other FeLV positive cats, with other pets, and of course as an only pet. Isle is being offered thru private adoption. I am requesting a $40 re-homing fee. Please consider giving this special needs a cat a home for the remainder of her life. She so deserves it.
