So, I ask you! What do you get when you cross a Dalmatian with a Lab? A “Salt and Pepper” speckled fun loving, clumsy, mild mannered, calm yet ready to play with whoever is willing goofball named “Salty”! Yep, that’s me! I do run and play outside, but am quiet and mild inside.

Originally used as a semi service dog for a challenged adult, I was surrendered by my owners. With that said, although my past is known, mom says I've made her very confused! My first event I kissed a cat and loved on children. At my second event I was not as friendly with cats but still laying a wet one on little Kids face...... Since then I've had 2 applications of families with children and initially I was leary on the first child then did give kisses, but the second ones were great kids (per mom) and I was not as kissy and even barked and semi snapped at the little boy. Maybe I've not been socialized with small kids (as these were) and throught I was to protect my mom from the little buggers.... or maybe I was just uncertain about them being at my level. Whatever, mom is baffled.... So, she has made me OK with older kids! Mom is eager to get me around others at events or outtings. I have and ALWAYS have been great. She thinks it maybe I am protective at home only as that's where the issues have occured!?? Who knows? Guess I do, but not telling!!!!!! Mom says I'm just an AWESOME goof ball who doesn't know what I want!!!

I know I LOVE walks, LOVE car rides, LOVE visiting a local nursing home, LOVE outings to Tractor Supply, Petco and Lowes! Been there done these things... "Oh Yeah, LOVE to be social and meet life head on!!"
Boy, all seem to think I’m a VERY attractive fella! I do tend to agree….mom sure seems proud too. But watch out! When I do kiss, I land WUICK, with “Wet & Wild LICKS” planted right on your face! How am I with other dogs you ask? Simply put….. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them TOO!

Presently I sleep quietly in a crate in mom/dad's bedroom, have snuggled in bed with mom when given the chance, am crated during their workday, but otherwise, I'm out/about  lounging in front of the TV, roaming the yard or just hanging with mom who sits on the floor with me. Got to love her devotion.....

Although I love other critters, I am “slightly” possessive of high value toys and my food bowl “TO DOGS ONLY”! Mom and dad take my toys and food without issues. I DO take treats side by side my foster family though (again, goofy me).

Mom says I do need a “special home”! You see, it appears I have had a history of “Ear Infections” which are allergy related. Records show it has been ongoing since puppyhood. The vet is approaching it as a "Food Allergy". Mom also says my laundry must be done in hypoallergenic detergent with NO fabric softener. I've now been doing great now for 2 whole month and LOOKING GOOD!

So, that's the poop scoop on me... I know there is someone out there that will give me a chance. I am an AWESOME  BOY!!!! REALLY!!! And I'm waiting for YOU!

His adoption donation includes neutering, vaccinations, implanting of a microchip, application of flea meds and worming.

Salty is in foster care so please complete an application at our website (www.castawaycritters.org) before meeting him. Completing an application does not obligate you to adopt; however, it is required. Applications are processed in the order received in an effort to find the best match possible for both the dog and the adopter.
