As if being born a black cat wasn’t going to make life hard, poor Chester was born with all four of his feet deformed. While he can walk and get around amazing well, he cannot run and could not survive outside. We don’t expect that Chester will have any serious or lingering health problems, but he will need a special home that can keep him safe always.

Chester is very laid back with a terrific attitude. You wouldn’t think he had a care in the world. The other cats in the house knew there was something different about him and so they didn’t chase him. They’re still feeling their way around and there is some hissing going on but they all three manage to find a spot on the bed each evening.

He came in, made himself at home and caught on to the routine immediately and there have been absolutely no litter box problems. If food is involved – he’s your guy!

He loves playing with dangling toys or those he can roll around with and toss in the air – chasing things is not for him and he knows it and just ignores those toys. As he doesn’t have claws or “toes” I sometimes give him a hand when he’s trying for a good scratch. Though scared of being brushed at first, he’s starting to understand the pleasure it brings.

Chester must go to a home without young children, dogs or many or aggressive cats. He’ll need a home with plenty of carpeting as he slips on linoleum or wood flooring and it wouldn’t be fair to him to have to do so. This guy knows his limitations and so concentrates on the rest of life.

UPDATE: Chester is such a sweet guy - greets me at the door when I come home - likes to hang with me in the kitchen when I'm cooking. Considering his issues he's not very fragile, jumps on the second level of the cat tree and he and his foster brother Gus are playing (and as you can see from the picture, Gus is no little guy himself). This guy loves his toys and brings one to bed with him at night.
