Macy is a sweet, front-declawed cat with a delightful personality! She loves to roll around while being petted and enjoys attention. Macy has quite a history. Last year she was spayed by a stray cat caretaker during a trap-neuter-return project in uptown Harrisburg. With no other place to put her, Macy was returned to the same neighborhood where she continued to be fed and cared for by the woman who had gotten her spayed. But earlier this year, her kind caretaker discovered that she was limping, so she scooped her up and took her to the vet who discovered that her right paw was so deformed that her toes were turned under and her claws had grown into her skin. Bones were sticking out of her toes on her left paw. There was no choice but to remove her front toes and claws. While she was recuperating from that surgery, complete with a cone that she had to wear for weeks (see photo below), her caretaker, who had taken her into her home, noticed something wrong with her right eye. The vet diagnosed an ulcer, which has been successfully treated. Macy has some difficulty walking because her toes are gone. But she's been a real trooper through all of her surgeries and medical treatments. And her paws look surprisingly normal for missing toes! Macy will need a home where she can have easy access to food, water, and a litter box because of her walking problem. (She's a faithful litter box user.) She can take stairs, although she rarely does, and I did see her almost run recently when the vacuum cleaner was turned on! She's tolerant of other cats but will hiss when they come too close. When I spend time with her, she'll come over to me and is quite affectionate. She's also a great nighttime bed buddy. In addition to being spayed, Macy is current on her vaccines, is microchipped, and has tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV.
